PoE had a China vs rest of world race a few years ago that was pretty great had Qualifiers, play-offs and hype commentary. To make it more spicy you could have a guild vs guild Gauntlet or EU server vs NA and similar. Same think but 10 man groups conpeting to beat every strike in the game as fast as possible. No changing characters in between (so you have to lock in profession's you are going to use from the start of the gauntlet). Compete to see who can do it the fastest. Have teams of 5 Players start at Fractal 1 beat every fractal in order up to Fractal 99. I'm sure could do some sort of equivalent for GW2. To promote it they have two guys on twitch commentating the event and they upload like 5min daily highlight videos to youtube each day of event. GGG (the devs) help support the event by giving away free mtx armor skins etc. These events are all community organised and the prize pool is crowd funded (last gauntlet in April had $35k prizepool). Gauntlets are the same thing but with much more difficult modifiers (things like every enemy has 15% more health, permanently hasted and shoots extra projectiles etc). Races are essentially speed leveling or speed clearing difficult content. Taking inspiration from PoE what I love there are Races and Gauntlet events. I don't know what appetite is like in GW2 community for some of this stuff. ![]() I can think of a few things they could do to promote the game on Twitch.Īt somepoint community needs to buy into it though. It would be cool if GW2 community take some inspiration. The PoE community organise pretty regular events like boss kill gauntlets and stuff, where people start on a fresh character with no gear (and no trading allowed) and race to see who can be first to kill a bunch of bosses. Pretty much every top tier player for that game (on the HC ladder) streams their gameplay. The community for that game does a really good job, you have some big personalities like Quin69 who meme around playing joke specs and on other end of spectrum you also have people who play at a very high level giving really detailed commentary and answering questions from Chat etc while they push the ladder. This takes a lot of effort.Ī game I play and also enjoy watching on Twitch is Path of Exile. Tournaments are cool and all but you really need someone giving commentary explaining what is going on, the gameplay is too hard to follow unless you already know the game. So if you want to attract viewers to watch a Guild Wars 2 stream you need someone with larger then life personality to play the game and keep people entertained during dead space. Quite a lot of gameplay is grinding and waiting for pug groups to form and stuff like that. I think part of the issue is that most mmo gameplay is pretty boring to watch. If you like legendaries great! But majority of players don't care/can't stomach the cost of something that is a minor QoL improvement. And the reward for your hard work and thousands of gold sent down the drain? A pitiable amount of gold and some skins that look extremely outdated and significantly worse than even the free stuff being released in current year.Īnd you are right about legendaries there are some weapons and armor on the gem store that are more animated and better looking than many ingame legendaries. You will have to spend 4 years doing dailys every day just to catch up to the top 10% who will still have a vast advantage over you due to annual achievements. The avhievement system is stupid and deeply flawed, especially for new players.ĭaily AP and yearly festival annual achievements makes up more than 1/3rd of the total AP in the game so even if you beat EVERY achievement in this game within month 1, you would not even be in the top 10% of AP players in this game. I don't know why people are downvoting you, you are correct. Latest patch Dev tracker Guild Wars 2 Discord Optional description Nightmode Lights on Content Filters
